Partner Profile: Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries
For 25 years, Folklorama has been proud to partner with Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries. From supporting the free public event – the Casino’s of Winnipeg Kick-Off at Assiniboine Park’s The Lyric stage (July 29th) to assisting the Pavilions through cultural beverage procurement, from embracing Folklorama during the pandemic for the virtual experience, Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries has always been a tremendous member of the Folklorama family. But did you know they also run a community volunteer program with their employees?
“Our employees have always been the heart and soul of who we are at Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries,” states Eleana Paggao, Senior Volunteer & Employee Giving Specialist, Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries. “In August 2006, our employees had a strong desire to give back to the community and our charitable journey began with unequivocal support from Liquor & Lotteries. Our community-focused engagement has evolved throughout the years to include volunteerism, corporate sponsorship, and employee-driven efforts to support charitable organizations and community groups in Manitoba. We believe as a community we are better together.”
To this day, Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries – The Together Project team of employees, Alumni, and their families and friends strongly commit to caring for one other and our communities in an effort to continue to enrich the lives of Manitobans. In fact, since 2006 through their corporate sponsorship and employee-directed volunteer efforts, Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries has had 225 volunteers (unique – employees, alumni, and their family and friends) who have volunteered over 7178.35 hours with Folklorama, filling 1432 volunteer shifts. *
“Folklorama has been honoured to be a part of The Together Project team for over 20 years, “states Kim Morphy, Director, Festival Operations & Partnership. “We have appreciated their assistance and passion in helping to make Folklorama such a success.”
“Over the years, it has been an extraordinary relationship with Folklorama and our employees”, states Paggao. “I know the Festival provides an opportunity for our employees, alumni, and their family and friends to contribute to their own cultural community, and for others, it’s an opportunity to learn about new cultures and be welcomed to the Pavilion “family” by various cultural groups during the two weeks of the Festival. “
Thank you, Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries and The Together Project, for their ongoing support of Folklorama. Volunteers truly make a world of difference.
