A Birthday to Remember: A Folklorama At Home Story

When you are a fan of Folklorama and it’s your birthday, what kind of memorable event can you plan? You can throw a Folklorama At Home party, just like Kim Rasmussen did!

“It was a special birthday occasion, and I was thinking about what to do”, states Rasmussen. “I turned on my television, and there it was! Folklorama At Home live on the CTV Morning Show. I knew this is what I wanted.”

With many different cultures and performers to choose from, Rasmussen decided to choose one close to her heart: her family’s Ukrainian heritage. She could never have imagined how the night would turn out.

“I never expected it would be just like going to Folklorama and with an even more personable component”, states Rasmussen.  “The Zoloto Ukrainian Dance Ensemble was beyond belief amazing!  The band duo knew exactly what to play. And we loved it!  Everyone was so friendly, they felt like family.  And the food! Spectacular!  My guests and I were over the moon.”

Celebrating and preserving culture is why the “At” programs were created. Seeing the smiles on people’s faces and the glow in their hearts makes Folklorama Producer, Christian Hidalgo-Mazzei beam with pride.

“It is such a wonderful gift for me to put these parties together for great people like Kim”, states Hildago-Mazzei. “Watching our Folklorama members take pride in what they do to share with the community is humbling and a joy to be around.”

Since launching the Folklorama At Home programs in May, over 70 parties have taken place. Clients like Kim Rasmussen sums it up perfectly.

 “What an amazing experience. It was truly more than I could have ever imagined. Something my family and I will cherish forever!”
