Celebrate Folklorama Festival Your Own Way
Winnipeg, MB – July 30, 2020 – This weekend would have been the start day of the 51st Folklorama Festival. There may not be a Festival this year, but there are so many ways you can still celebrate.
Folklorama Favourites Scavenger Hunt
Take your family and friends on an ethno-cultural adventure of a lifetime without leaving Winnipeg. Download your official Folklorama Favourites Scavenger Hunt here. For all you Folklorama Foodies, there is a separate food scavenger hunt so you can enjoy the foods you miss at the Festival. Take part in this event by taking a photo of where you are, tag Folklorama @Folklorama, #MyFolklorama. For each tag at a location on the hunt list, you will receive an entry to win fantastic prizes like 2 Easy Access Tour Visas with unlimited access to Folklorama Pavilions in 2021, gift baskets, and more!
Folklorama “At” Programs
Take Folklorama to your home, work, and/or school by booking a Folklorama customizable experience. Learn more at [email protected]. To date, over 50 bookings have occurred! The program has been so successful that it has been expanded to 365 days a year!

International Celebrations
Did you know that Folklorama is a member of the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts (CIOFF). On August 8th, tune in to CIOFF’s 50th Anniversary Marathon, where Folklorama will have two presenters/workshops as part of the North American region. The two presenters from Winnipeg will be:
- Shanley Spence – First Nations Hoop Dancer /Performer
- La Troupe Jeunesse de l’Ensemble Folklorique de la Riviére-Rouge – dance workshop will be delivered by Christine Lamontagne and Jacqueline Jubenville
In total, the sector will present eight workshops, featuring artists from across Canada, U.S.A., and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. These workshops will be one hour in duration and will be presented back to back starting at 11:00 a.m. Central Time.
