The Casinos of Winnipeg Folklorama Kick-off returns on Saturday, July 26, and you’re invited to a FREE evening of culture, community, and pure summer fun at Assiniboine Park’s Lyric Theatre from 4:00pm until 8:00pm!

Get ready for a high-energy lineup of live performances from:

• German Club Band
• Kapwa Kultura Performing Arts & Magdaragat Philippines Inc.
• Asham Stompers
• Sol de España
• Afro-Caribbean Dancers

…and many more showcasing the heart of our multicultural city!

Explore the Pavilion Expo that features some of our Pavilions – including the Egyptian, German, Ghana, Irish, Mabuhay Philippine, Modern Chinese, Punjab, and Ukraine-Kyiv Pavilions.

Indulge in delicious eats from local food trucks, enjoy family-friendly fun in the Kid’s Corner (featuring drumming, henna tattoos, face painting & more), and visit activations by amazing partners who support this event for all to attend.

The Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Summer Activation Team is bringing the fun to the Kick-off as well! Swing by their booth for high-energy games, great conversation, and awesome prizes—you never know what you might win!

Supporting Our Ethno-Cultural Communities

For Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries, the Kick-off isn’t just another event—it’s the beginning of a citywide celebration of culture, connection, and community.

“The Casinos of Winnipeg Folklorama Kick-off is one of Winnipeg’s treasured summer events,” states Greg Paseshnik, Director of Programming and Partnerships. “Seeing performers representing Pavilions from across the globe light up the Lyric Stage—and knowing what’s still to come—creates an energy you can feel. You can truly feel how proud our communities are to share their stories. It’s the perfect start to two unforgettable weeks of food, music, and celebration.”

Folklorama is all about unity through diversity—something Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries takes to heart.

“It’s incredibly special to watch so many cultures come together in one place,” Greg mentions. “With music in the air and dancers on stage at The Lyric Theatre, you can truly feel how proud our communities are to share their stories.”

Their support doesn’t stop with the Kick-off either—through their Folklorama Pavilion Entertainment Sponsorship Program they’ve been supporting our cultural communities directly for many years! They provide funding every year for each Pavilion that participates in Folklorama.

This year, they’re turning up the excitement with a Festival-wide contest you won’t want to miss. Look for the Casinos of Winnipeg contest QR code at any Pavilion and enter for your chance to win a prize basket valued at over $500.

There will be a winner selected for each week of the Festival, and entries are accepted right until our last Pavilion closes on Saturday, August 16, so keep scanning those QR codes until you see the final show!
