Dr. Gurinder Randhawa
Dr. Gurinder Randhawa brings over 20 years of experience as a community leader, and an educator with a strong commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and cultural celebration in Manitoba. Her work consistently reflects a vision for building bridges across communities, promoting heritage, and empowering young leaders.
Dr. Randhawa holds a Doctorate in Education and Diploma in Immigration Laws, Policies and Procedures. She has over 15 years of experience as an educator in Manitoba’s public high schools and UCN, Thompson, coupled with more than six years as a Professor in India. Currently, she works as a full-time regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC-IRB) and runs her immigration services company-Growing Pathways Immigration based in Winnipeg.
Beyond her educational achievements, Dr. Randhawa is the Founder, President and Managing Director of the non-profit organization Shining Star Productions Manitoba, through which she has been producing successful Asian beauty pageants and talent shows since 2016. Her efforts have significantly enriched Manitoba’s cultural and tourism fabric, providing a platform to showcase the talents of local youth and children.
Dr. Randhawa’s leadership extends to her service on several prominent boards, including the Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology, the Manitoba Centennial Centre Corporation, and the India Canada Cultural and Heritage Association. Additionally, she has contributed as an Adult Ambassador for the Punjab Pavilion in 2015 and served on Folklorama’s Scholarship and Youth Committees for two terms. Her daughter, Bisman Randhawa, currently serves as Folklorama’s Ambassador General.
Her strategic thinking, collaborative spirit, and dedication to fostering community cohesion makes her a standout leader.
Her extensive experience in academia, event production, and governance showcases her multifaceted abilities and deep passion for cultural celebration. She has received various awards for her academic excellence, leadership and community work. Recently, she received King Charles III Coronation medal
Dr. Randhawa’s involvement with Folklorama reflects her passion for fostering cross-cultural understanding and supporting initiatives that bring communities together. Her connection to Folklorama stems from her deep appreciation for cultural heritage and a desire to celebrate diversity in Manitoba. What inspired her to become a member was the organization’s inclusive spirit and its unique platform to showcase and preserve cultural traditions while empowering youth and strengthening community bonds.
Her passion for cultural heritage, youth empowerment, and inclusive community building continues to shape her work and commitment to organizations like Folklorama. Becoming a member of Folklorama is a natural step in continuing this lifelong mission.
