Bisman’s Journey: From Folklorama to the University of Toronto
For Bisman Randhawa, receiving a scholarship to the University of Toronto was a dream come true. Passionate about leadership and community service, she credits her success to the countless opportunities she pursued, including her involvement with Folklorama.
“Winning this scholarship felt like a full-circle moment. It’s not just about academics, it’s about passion, leadership, and giving back to the community,” she shares.
Bisman plans to study Public Policy or International Relations, with the goal of becoming a human rights lawyer. She believes her experiences with Folklorama have been instrumental in shaping her confidence, public speaking skills, and ability to engage with diverse communities. “Folklorama has taught me how to connect with people, embrace different cultures, and find my voice. It has prepared me for this next chapter in ways I never imagined.”
Her advice to young leaders?
“Pursue what makes you happy and find meaningful ways to contribute to your community. Success follows passion and purpose.”
As she embarks on this exciting journey, she expresses deep gratitude to her mother, educators, and mentors who supported her along the way.
“I can’t wait to embrace this new beginning, explore new opportunities, and make a difference in the world.”
