The Hungarian Kapisztran Folk Ensemble of Winnipeg Inc. was founded in 1960 to foster the performance and study of Hungarian folk music and dance.
All of the costumes the performers wear are authentic folk dress from the various regions of Hungary where the dances originate.
The group performs for conventions and banquets. During Folklorama, they can be seen at the Hungary- Pannonia Pavilion. They also travel across Canada annually to perform at the Western Canadian Hungarian Dance Festival and have also performed in Hungary.
All of the Hungarian Kapisztran Folk Ensemble’s dances possess a strength and intensity evident in the energy of their performance. The bottle dance and the dance suite from Szatmar are just a few of the selections they perform to provide audiences with a special taste of tradition.
