Fabiola Gordillo was born and raised in Tecate, Baja California, Mexico, a small town sharing a border with San Diego. She has a bachelor’s degree in international business and an MBA.
After completing her MBA, she moved to Canada where her husband was already working as a truck driver. With a 2-year-old daughter and being a stay-at-home mom, she needed to find ways to keep her daughter busy in the winter. That is where her creativity started.
During their first summer in 2017, Fabiola could not find a piñata for a themed birthday party. She realized Canada has a lack of customized piñatas, the market is very limited to what they want to supply, not the demand, so she built her very first piñata. Friends and neighbors asked for piñatas since then she has supplied the Mexican Association of Manitoba their piñatas for their events.
Different associations asked her for workshops with the main goal of teaching them the tradition, meaning and the art of making piñatas.
Fabiola works in her own family business as an administrative assistant, and she also runs a Latin Facebook group with plus 6 600 members helping newcomers to navigate the settlement stage in a new country. She offers different crafting workshops such as rock painting, painting, pottery decoration, earring, and bracelet workshops.
