Stantec: Design with Community in Mind

Community is the backbone of Folklorama. For over 50 years, it’s been in the fabric of the DNA. From the founding members in the late 60s and early 70s until now, it’s a sense of belonging and a sense of pride.

When it comes to partnerships, Folklorama focuses on businesses that share the same mission and vision. When Ben Lee, Director of Development from Stantec approached Folklorama with a partnership idea, Folklorama knew it was a great fit for all.

Stantec is an international design firm with a local office in downtown Winnipeg. They are comprised of 250+ Architects, Interior Designers, Engineers, and Scientists.

“Our motto is “Design with Community in Mind”, states Lee. “It’s in our culture to give back and serve to the communities that we live in.”

For Director, Festival Operations & Partnership, Kim Morphy, having the partnership of Stantec meant better support for the Pavilions.

“Safety is Folklorama’s key priority when developing, inspecting, and certifying stage plans and permits”, states Morphy. “Having access to Stantec’s engineers provided a great support to our Pavilions.”

Stantec cares about the communities they serve—because they’re our communities too. This allows them to assess what’s needed and connect their expertise, appreciate nuances, and envision what’s never been considered, and bring together diverse perspectives so they can collaborate toward a shared success.

“Members of our staff and leadership team volunteer at their respective pavilions”, states Lee. “Folklorama is a Festival near and dear to our staff and their close connections.”

Thank you, Stantec for your incredible support in 2022. Folklorama looks forward to building community together in 2023.
