Manitoba Hydro in the Community

Manitoba Hydro is an active presence and supporter in the communities they serve, in more ways than being the province’s major energy utility.

Through their Community Investment program, Manitoba Hydro is committed to supporting events and activities that make the province a better place for everyone to live, work, and go to school.

“Manitoba Hydro’s Community Investment program is based on a single principle,” states Jackie Britton, Manitoba Hydro Community Investment Representative. “Our success is directly linked to the economic and social vibrancy of each community we serve.”

As a Crown Corporation and through their employees, the province’s energy provider supports local community-based organizations and events through donations, grants, sponsorships and volunteering. Their partnership with Folklorama helps the organization adhere to their foundational principle ‘respect for each other’ and create a more open work place where differences are accepted and celebrated.

“Our support of the Folklorama At School program is our way to help bring Folklorama to young Manitobans during the challenging time each of us is experiencing” states Jackie.

Launched in May, the Folklorama At School is a program designed to help students appreciate and respect cultural differences, while motivating them to take pride in their own cultural heritage. The program aligns with Manitoba Hydro’s pledge to achieving and maintaining a workforce that reflects the demographics of the communities they serve.

We would like to thank Manitoba Hydro for their continued support. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor of Folklorama, contact Executive Director Teresa Cotroneo at [email protected].
